The porcelain factory complex in Karlovy Vary is coming back to life. Part of it is back in Czech hands after 30 years
Czech company KV Catalysts is reviving operations at the former traditional Moritz Zdekauer porcelain factory in the Stará Rola district of Karlovy Vary. It is launching the production of modern catalysts, which are key to combating climate change and are used, for example, in the energy industry to produce greener fuels. The new owners intend to repair the bankrupt site and offer the region a number of job opportunities.
At the moment, KV Catalysts is starting operations in one of the factories in the Staro Rolsk area, which was purchased from the well-known porcelain factory Moritz Zdekauer by the French company KPCL in 1995 and subsequently sold to the French multinational company Imerys SA. The acquisition of Imerys Tableware CR (now KV Catalysts) was completed in June of this year, and the plant with the technology for producing porcelain granulate returned to Czech hands after almost 30 years.
The company has already hired back some former employees and expects to create more jobs. It is currently adjusting production technologies and plans to launch the production of heterogeneous catalysts.
